7 Questions w/ Michael Campion

In conversation with Michael Campion, Executive Coach and Public Speaker.

Michael Campion has built a career around a simple but demanding idea: leaving people better than he found them. As a coach and public speaker, he works at the intersection of performance, mindset and human potential. In seven rapid-fire questions, he is direct, honest and funny - exactly the kind of person you want in your corner.

Q1 — For the rest of your life: black or white t-shirt?

Black.

Q2 — Favourite time of day — and why?

Definitely not the morning — I'm not a morning person. I would say the night, because I think everyone is more relaxed. People are more honest in moonlight than sunlight, and I am most creative in the evening as well.

Q3 — Morning routine — non-negotiable or overrated?

Overrated. I have two kids. As an entrepreneur I know there's a long answer and this is suppose to be short — so yeah, overrated. Nothing sticks.

Q4 — Discipline or motivation — which one actually works?

It's cheating if I say both, isn't it? You need both. Motivation gets you started. Discipline wins the race.

Q5 — The moment you knew coaching was your calling?

It was when I started to see with my own eyes the impact I could have on other people's lives. I've always wanted to leave people better than I found them — when I realised I could make that a career, that was it. I was done.

Q6 — Best advice for stage fright?

It's not about you. Be generous with your ideas. Passion is contagious.

Q7 — An hour completely to yourself — where and how?

First of all, that never happens — as an entrepreneur and a father. If I have an hour to myself, I'm either by the ocean trying to disconnect digitally, or I'm going for a run to clear my mind.
